Bridges

Bridges are one method for filling gaps in the mouth. The teeth are normally prepared for thimming on either side of the room. Then the bridge is cemented using high dental adhesives, so it is not necessary to take and remove this type of device.

Conventional Bridgework

The bridge is made in one piece by linking the tooth filling the space, to the crowns on either side. Bridges fabricated with the latest materials and techniques can be made to blend in seamlessly with your own natural teeth allowing you to continue smiling with confidence. A well designed and constructed bridge should last ten years minimum and frequently 20+years if carefully looked after. To maximise a bridge’s life span, a high standard of oral health care should be maintained

Resin-Retained Bridges (Sticky Bridges)

Where the teeth neighbouring a space are near pristine and one would be reluctant to hurt the perfectly good tooth structure, the tooth made to fill the space can be locked in place using thin chrome slips that glove over the healthy teeth. These types of bridge can be temporary or permanent depending on the type of glue used to fixed them in. Design will also influence how long they last. A well designed and constructed bridge should last eight years minimum and frequently 15+years if carefully looked after. To maximise a bridge’s life span a high standard of oral health care should be maintained.
